Instructional Intern, Casper Mountain Science Program (Housing + Pay Provided!)

This is a temporary Internship of 15 weeks (2 weeks of training, 13 weeks with students) for the Spring Semester: February 2, 2026 - May 15, 2026 (Dates are approximate)

Who we're looking for: We hire enthusiastic environmental education instructors interested in exploring place-based science and improving their teaching skills. We use the outdoors to introduce K-12 students to field studies and develop an appreciation of our environment.

Our mission is to provide students the opportunity to learn outdoors to increase their knowledge of science, find delight in nature, and reflect on their place in the world.

What you'll do: Instructional interns lead day trips and supervise overnight programs approximately once a week. They teach a curriculum based on the Wyoming State Standards and collaborate with CMSP staff and classroom teachers. While some lessons and activities are taught within our lodge, the majority of teaching takes place in the field. Day trips and overnight programs are scheduled Monday through Thursday, and training and classroom visits occur on Fridays. The exact work hours each day may vary.

We use Camp Sacajawea, owned by the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming, which is located atop Casper Mountain. The campus features a lodge, yurts for student overnight stays, and access to hundreds of acres of forest and trails for outdoor exploration and learning. Our lodge includes indoor classrooms, intern bedrooms, an industrial kitchen, and laundry facilities, among other amenities. Bedrooms may be shared with another intern instructor in a dormitory-style setting.

Weekends and evenings offer opportunities to explore the outdoor recreation options on Casper Mountain and throughout Wyoming. We are located just one mile from Hogadon Ski Basin and a few hours from Devil's Tower National Monument, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone National Parks.

Training: Interns receive two weeks of comprehensive training at the beginning of their internship and ongoing support throughout the semester. Training focuses on classroom management, instructional strategies, local ecology, geology, and other related topics.

Compensation & Benefits: The total compensation is $4,800. Interns will be paid monthly ($1200 monthly for four months). On-site housing and some meals are also provided at our lodge.
