Ready for a Change? Join Green Adventure Project School as a K-2 Outdoor Educator!
Location: Charlottesville, VA
Position: K-2 Teacher (Full-Time, 2025–2026 School Year)
Are you a passionate educator with a few years of classroom experience under your belt — and a growing desire to do things differently?
At Green Adventure Project School, we believe children learn best by doing, exploring, and connecting deeply with the world around them. We’re seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and flexible K-2 teacher who’s ready to move beyond the walls of a traditional classroom and embrace the rich possibilities of outdoor, hands-on education.
Why Join Our Teaching Team?
Reignite Your Passion
Step out of the four walls and into a learning environment where curiosity leads, hands are dirty, and joy is a daily companion.
Nature as the Classroom
From forest trails to garden beds, our curriculum is rooted in nature-based experiences — where math, science, literacy, and social-emotional growth happen in real time and in real life.
Small Class Sizes = Big Impact
With a low student-teacher ratio, you’ll build meaningful relationships and tailor learning to each child’s unique path.
A Team That Feels Like Family
Collaborate with thoughtful, mission-driven educators who support and inspire one another.
Professional Growth That Matters
We invest in your development — from workshops on place-based education to peer-led learning, you’ll grow alongside your students.
Your Role: Teacher, Mentor, Explorer
- Design and lead integrated K-2 learning experiences — especially in math, science, and inquiry — that are hands-on, student-driven, and rooted in the outdoors.
- Create a warm, inclusive learning community where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered.
- Model environmental stewardship and foster a love of nature that will stay with students for life.
- Engage with families and the local community, building strong partnerships that enrich learning.
Who You Are:
- A licensed teacher (or eligible for licensure) with experience teaching young children.
- Someone who thrives outdoors — rain, shine, or snow — and sees nature as a dynamic co-teacher.
- A creative, flexible educator who’s excited by project-based learning and open-ended exploration.
- You’re ready to grow professionally in a collaborative, evolving environment — and contribute your voice to something bigger.
Hear From a Current Teacher:
"I came to Green Adventure after five years in a traditional school. I wanted more freedom, more connection, and more joy in my teaching. I found all of that here — and more."
If you're ready to bring your skills to a place where your work feels both grounded and inspired, we’d love to hear from you.
