PLT is seeking a full-time Land Manager to monitor, manage and care for ~4,000 acres of land in Placer County. The employee will work as part of a team of land management (aka “stewardship”) staff and will be supervised by the Stewardship Director. About 40% of the job is field work involving demanding physical labor – monitoring properties, managing land, and maintaining property amenities. About 60% of the job involves office work – internal and external communications, meetings, document work, filing, grant work, administration, team projects, etc. Occasional evening and weekend work (less than once a month) is required, and frequent travel throughout Placer County is required. This is a full-time non-exempt salaried position with a starting salary range of $67,000-$70,000, depending on skills and experience. Annually PLT offers 13 paid holidays, accrual of paid vacation starting at 13 days, and accrual of paid sick time at 10 days. PLT contributes to the cost of group health insurance available to PLT employees. When the employee becomes eligible per IRS rules, PLT starts and contributes to the employee’s 403b retirement program. PLT offers ongoing training and professional development.
The Qualifications:
We are looking for someone with proven ability to excel in an office environment, using technology and working with team members and organizational partners on land stewardship agreements, special grant projects, and reporting. At the same time, we’re looking for someone with the ability to work independently and/or lead a team working on the land, and use and maintain equipment safely. The ideal candidate has the skills, experience, and passion to protect PLT’s preserves through proactive and reactive work among PLT staff and volunteers, partners, funders, landowners, grazing tenants, neighbors, and the public. Based in Auburn, CA, Placer Land Trust (PLT) is a private nonprofit organization founded in 1991 that works with willing landowners and conservation partners to permanently protect and care for natural and agricultural land in Placer County. To date, PLT has protected over 22,000 acres of land in Placer County for current and future generations. Our protected lands include woodlands, forests and rangelands, waterways and lakes, habitat corridors and wildlife preserves, parks and recreation areas, scenic vistas, and farms and ranches.
