Land Steward
Land Trust of Santa Cruz County
Santa Cruz, California
The Land Stewardship Department is a collaborative team responsible for the day-to-day stewardship of uniquely diverse landscapes, sensitive habitats, productive working lands, and public trails throughout Santa Cruz County.
The Land Steward position involves tasks that promote and support the conservation values of Land Trust properties using industry-standard best practices. These tasks include, but are not limited to, invasive weed management, vegetation management, erosion control, landscape construction, and rural road and facilities maintenance.
Focus areas include our sandhills preserves, Glenwood Open Space Preserve, Santa Cruz long-toed salamander preserves, San Vicente Redwoods, Byrne-Milliron Forest, Watsonville Slough Farm, Highway 17 properties, Rocks Ranch, and other properties as they are added to our holdings.
This is primarily a field position, with occasional office hours as needed to collaborate in a team setting.
The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County operates in an ecologically and demographically diverse region of central California. We recognize that our organization does not represent the human diversity of our region that will enhance our work and impact.
The Land Trust aspires to be an organization representative of the communities we serve. We are looking for people with a passion for nature, land protection, and teamwork. We encourage everyone to apply for our available positions, even if they don’t meet all the hiring criteria listed in the job description.
