Biohabitats is seeking an ecologically focused Landscape Architect to join our Southeast Atlantic Bioregion team in Charleston, SC or Raleigh, NC.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, design, and graphic communication skills that can be applied to a variety of projects including planning studies, in-field ecological assessments, preparation of design plans, construction documents, and materials to support community engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary team of scientists, landscape architects, and engineers to support ecological restoration, conservation, climate adaptation and resiliency, and environmental justice work for government, private, and non-governmental organizations.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Preparing ecological site analyses and planning for a range of project scales
- Conducting ecological field assessments, watershed inventories, flora & fauna studies, wetland delineations and tree surveys.
- Preparing concept designs through construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Participating in construction administration and oversight.
- Providing graphic communication support for projects and proposals.
- Participating and leading community engagement initiatives.
- Supporting Southeast Atlantic Bioregion business development activities.
Required Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
- Professional experience related to ecological restoration & conservation; climate adaptation and resiliency; environmental justice; and clean water.
- Applied experience supporting design projects (e.g., grading, soils, planting plans, and habitat enhancement features, etc.) from concept through construction drawings.
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, 3d modeling software, and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong graphic, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to support or lead field assessments under a variety of weather and site conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeastern United States and occasionally beyond.
- Love for wild nature and a dedication to restore the earth and inspire ecological stewardship is a must.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Knowledge
- Familiarity with ecosystems of the Southeast and native plant identification.
- Familiarity with wetland delineation and willingness to participate in training.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS software
- Restoration construction and plant installation oversight experience.
- Community engagement experience
- Professional networking experience in the Southeast.
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture with a background in ecology or related earth sciences discipline.
Years of Relevant Experience
3-8 years of relevant experience as a Landscape Architect
Professional Registration
PLA or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 2 years of hire date
Salary Range
$65,000.00 - $80,000.00
Location
Charleston, SC or Raleigh, NC. Biohabitats provides a flexible, hybrid work environment. During the onboarding period, new team members are expected to spend up to 4 to 5 days each week in our Bioregional office. They can then transition to fewer office days per week, with flexibility to adjust based on field work and travel.
