Natural Shore Technologies is a well-established ecological restoration company based in Independence, MN. For over 20 years, we have specialized in designing, installing, and maintaining native plant restorations—including shorelines, wetlands, rain gardens, and prairies—for public, commercial, and residential clients. We also operate a native plant nursery that supports habitat restoration throughout the region.

Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Lead Restoration Technician to supervise and carry out ecological restoration projects across a variety of native habitats in the Twin Cities area. This is a field-based leadership role ideal for a motivated professional with a background in natural resources, land stewardship, or ecological fieldwork. You’ll be responsible for vegetation management, crew supervision, equipment operation, and maintaining project records.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ecological restoration and management in prairies, shorelines, wetlands, and woodlands
- Implement vegetation management practices, including herbicide application and mechanical removal
- Supervise and mentor seasonal interns and field crew members
- Monitor restoration sites and assess management needs
- Safely operate chainsaws, brush cutters, sprayers, ATVs, and other equipment
- Maintain accurate records and assist with client communications
- Assist with seed collection, nursery tasks, and educational events
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of field experience in natural resources or ecological restoration
- Proficient in native and invasive plant identification
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Physically fit—capable of working outdoors in challenging conditions (heat, rain, insects)
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous tasks for extended periods
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and ability to tow trailers/equipment
- Herbicide application experience preferred
- Must obtain MN Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Categories A & J) within 30 days of hire
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting Salary: $43,000+, based on experience
- Annual Bonus: Typically 1–5% of salary
