Shaw Nature Reserve is actively recruiting for the position of Manager, Restoration and Land Stewardship.
Shaw Nature Reserve is a 2,400-acre property of the Missouri Botanical Garden, located 35 miles southwest of St. Louis in the Ozark Border Region. Natural communities at Shaw Nature Reserve include woodlands, prairies, dolomite glades, floodplain forests, and wetlands that are actively managed to promote native biodiversity. The Nature Reserve has a thriving ecological restoration program with highly skilled staff, a dedicated community of volunteers, and professional equipment and facilities to support ambitious restoration projects and long-term stewardship of regional biodiversity.
Position Summary: Provides leadership and strategic vision for the SNR Ecological Restoration Program, while also directly providing oversight and personally contributing to the execution of ecological restoration and land management activities at Shaw Nature Reserve including invasive species control, native species seed collection, and prescribed fire. Provides guidance, training, and supervision for restoration staff and leads the SNR Volunteer Land Stewardship program. Ensures that the ecological restoration program is science-driven and adheres to best practices. Fosters relationships with donors, foundations, and strategic partners to support the Ecological Restoration Program. Effectively communicates restoration objectives and coordinates work activities with staff throughout SNR and other Garden divisions. Maintains long-term management plans for SNR natural areas.
