As a Natural Resource Specialist 1 – CWD Surveillance Biologist in Bend, Oregon, you will assist in work duties supporting the Wildlife Health and Population Laboratories, specifically working to support the veterinarians, population biologist, and agency district biologists in the surveillance, prevention, and management of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). Duties include:
- CWD database entry and data management/GIS mapping
- Public response to phone enquiries
- CWD sampling and collection of harvested and road-kill salvage cervid heads and carcasses
- Online hunter CWD results reporting
- Collection of samples of harvested animals from taxidermists and meat processors
- Carcass disposal coordination
- Hunting season check station
- CWD sampling of carcasses
- Removal of targeted surveillance animals
- Public outreach
- CWD field equipment (truck, trailer, ATV) maintenance

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework;
-OR-
Option 2: Three years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program.

- The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%
