The City of Oklahoma City – Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a new Natural Resources Manager, due to a retirement. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, this role will manage four (4) program areas to include: Bricktown Canal & Field Horticulture Program, Fisheries Management Program, Martin Park Nature Center Program, and Will Rogers Gardens Program.
The Natural Resources Manager serves as the head of a division and is responsible for the management of all employees, properties, development, operation, maintenance, educational programs, and events held at all the facilities under their purview, as well as the intensively maintained park areas in the city. This includes the supervision of the activities of professional staff in administration, fish biology, horticulture, wildlife ecology, public programs and facility event rentals.
This committed public servant must possess the political aptitude to engage and present to City leadership, and the ability to foster relationships with community groups, volunteers, partner agencies and residents. The new Natural Resources Manager must also have a passion for people, a focus on developing future leaders amongst the staff, the ability to effectively manage team members working in various locations throughout the community, while also creating a collaborative and respectful workplace.
Candidates shall have a bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience, substituting year for year. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success in supervising and managing teams is also required.
