Nature’s Burial Associate The Coastal Prairie Conservancy is an accredited land trust which has conserved over 33,000 acres of coastal prairie habitat in Southeast Texas, including over 19,000 acres of protected land on the Katy Prairie Preserve. Nature’s Burial was organized as a venture of the Coastal Prairie Conservancy to preserve and restore the natural prairie and provide the community the most environmentally friendly option to celebrate a life in a meaningful and lasting way. In 2025, Nature’s Burial established the Blazing Star Sanctuary – the first certified conservation cemetery in Texas – on the Katy Prairie Preserve. As sales commenced in 2026, demand has quickly escalated. Nature’s Burial provides a high-growth opportunity for a motivated individual to support operations.

The Nature’s Burial Associate will support the President and Vice President of Nature’s Burial with a variety of activities to ensure the success of Nature’s Burial.

• Promptly respond to telephone and email inquiries.
• Support the sales process, including contract generation, payment collection, and reminders and communications with clients.
• Distribute information to local community organizations and others regarding Nature’s Burial offerings.
• Create and manage filing system for plot ownership and interment records.
• Lead open houses and tours of Blazing Star Sanctuary (training provided).
• Input contact information, generate and/or upload completed documents, and update plot status using WebCemeteries software (training provided).
• Generate contracts for prospective buyers and obtain signatures using existing templates.
• Input information, upload files, and keep current Google drive files, Monday.com, and WebCemeteries.
• Assist with memorial gatherings and burial ceremonies, including coordination with families, funeral directors, and cemetery service providers as well as help prepare burial site.
• Collect content and coordinate with Coastal Prairie Conservancy’s Development and Communications Associate to implement marketing plan.


Qualifications and Requirements:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organizational skills. The ability to produce polished work with minimal oversight is a must for this position.
• Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to handle numerous ongoing projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to connect with families, visitors, and the public in a thoughtful and respectful manner, using diplomacy and discretion. Highly energetic and self-motivated, with proven ability to work as a member of a high-performance team.
• Interest or experience in conservation and natural resources preferred.
• Excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn cemetery management and project management software.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or work experience in professional office setting.

Compensation:

• Hourly compensation at the rate of $25 per hour, over an estimated 20 to 30 hours per week.
• As a part-time employee, no benefits are available with this position.
• Position offers training and growth potential in start-up venture.


Location & Physical Requirements:

• Flexibility to respond to inquiries and burial ceremonies as part of the Nature’s Burial team.
• Availability for evening and weekend hours to support tours, events, and ceremonies;
• Primary work locations and regular in-person meetings at CPC’s Houston office and at CPC’s Katy Prairie Indiangrass Field Office, along with frequent tours and events at the Blazing Star Sanctuary on the Katy Prairie.
• Travel to visit community organizations, funeral homes, marketing partners, and other locations to develop and maintain relationships.

• Ability to:

o work in physically demanding conditions and walk unassisted through difficult terrain in all weather conditions.
o sit for long periods of time;
o speak, read, write, and use a computer keyboard; and
o stand, walk, lift, stoop, bend, and carry equipment and materials.
