Wildlife Biologist - GIS Intern, NV

Location: Reno, Nevada

Anticipated start date: July 2025

Salary Information: $20 per hour. 8-24 hours per week.

Duties: Work in a joint capacity with Pheasants Forever, Inc. (PF), and the Nevada Department of Wildlife to assist with coordination and planning efforts related to GIS data and modeling efforts within Nevada.  This internship will provide the opportunity to gain or grow your skills in GIS data creation, data management, cartography and map creation, interaction with professional conservation biologists, and coordination between conservation organizations.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be pursuing a career in GIS or natural resources, conservation, biology, wildlife, or closely related field.
  • Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, QGIS and Field Maps is a plus.
  • Must be able to work effectively with governmental agency staff and conservation organization representatives.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work in an office setting with long periods of time working on a computer.
  • Must be able to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record.
  • Complete and comprehend all training as directed by supervisor(s).
  • Abide by all company policies, rules and safety regulations as directed.

Training and Experience Guideline:

Any combination of training and/or experience that will enable the applicant to possess the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Applicant must be pursuing or possess a degree in GIS or natural resources, conservation, biology, wildlife, or closely related field.
