Goals:

● Coordinate school garden programs at elementary school gardens throughout Okanogan County;
● Prepare curriculum, classlessons and workgroups;
● Act as lead communication and liaison between teachers and garden projects/lessons;
● Inspire agricultural connections to our community through farming skills, art, science, nutrition, and outdoor education;
● Assist in organization of monthly Okanogan School Garden Network meetings
● Organize, lead, and run, an inaugural Farmer’s Market program at each Okanogan County School Garden throughout the year (Fall and Spring);
● Facilitate and run, in-school Winter cooking classes, using garden produce and inspired recipes
● Potential for summer camp instructor at the Classroom in Bloom garden
● Be a bright and positive presence in our schools and able to develop good rapport with students, teachers, administration and volunteers.

Education Coordinator Program Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with Classroom in Bloom, Okanogan Conservation District, elementary school educators and volunteers;
2. Teach standards-based garden lessons in science, math, art and nutrition for age- appropriate K-6 student learning;
3. Coordinate seasonal garden schedule with teachers, parents, volunteers and community at large;
4. Assist with social media and other public relation outlets to connect with communities about school gardens and beneficial impacts to our children.
5. Work a flexible schedule at up to two schools per week throughout Okanogan County, and be available on occasion, for weekend garden events and volunteer work parties;
6. Attend, present and/or teach at relevant workshops/trainings or conferences.

An ideal candidate must be: highly efficient and organized, excited about Farm to School mission and vision, able to lift heavy objects and work comfortably in the garden for long hours, computer savvy and able to adapt to spreadsheets, google docs and social media, creative and collaborative in nature, enjoy children and have good classroom management skills, and able to travel with their own vehicle throughout Okanogan County (up to 75+ miles/day, 2 or 3 days/week). Mileage is paid.


Hours and Pay: Responsibilities are dynamic and vary throughout the year depending on the school cycle, planting and harvest season, events, and needs of each garden.

● Work a flexible 24 hours per week, during the school year
● 1 year contract includes summer camp instructor position with potential for continuation based on funding availability
● Start date Sept 1, 2025
● Pay rate of $22.00/hour. Benefits include WA state sick leave, and paid Federal Holidays.
