Operations Manager

Little Cumberland Island Georgia

The Board of Directors of Little Cumberland Island, Georgia (“LCI”) seeks candidates for the position of Operations Manager. This position serves as the primary caretaker and onsite manager for the island. As most of you know, LCI is approximately 2000 acres, and is officially part of the Cumberland Island National Seashore but is managed as private community with strict covenants under a permanent management agreement with the Department of the Interior.  There are 100, 2 acre lots, of which ~45 have been built upon (all lots are owned).  There are ~80 “members” who are required to own a lot.  The bulk of the island is maintained as ‘green space’.  There are no island-wide amenities provided beyond electricity and unpaved roads.  LCI is home to one of the oldest sea turtle nest monitoring projects in the world (initiated in 1964 by Dr. Jim Richardson and members of the LCI community).  LCI is considered one of the least ecologically disturbed of the GA barrier islands.

The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for managing the Island environment consistent with the Mission Statement, Board policies and Association guidelines and regulations.  The OM is responsible for the physical condition of the properties of the Association as well as ensuring boats, vehicles and equipment are in good working order, docks are in safe condition and buildings kept repaired and in livable condition.  The OM is responsible and is held accountable for all Island operations.  The OM, as a respected professional, interacts with government agencies, other coastal communities, and visitors to the Island.  The OM, as an experienced senior manager, creates a positive environment for personnel and members.

Qualifications include a minimum of 8 years progressive management experience in land management, construction management, marina services management, hospitality services management or retail business management.  A captain’s license and a college degree are preferred. Salary and benefits include lodging on island.
