Florida Wildlife Hospital is seeking an Operations Manager to join a team of dedicated wildlife rehabilitation professionals. The Operations Manager (OM) is the liaison between the Rehabilitation Manager and the animal care staff.

Since 1973, Florida Wildlife Hospital (FWH) has rescued, rehabilitated, and released thousands of sick, injured, and orphaned native Florida animals in Brevard County. FWH is available 365 days a year to admit wildlife patients. We care for more than 5,000 patients per year. FWH is the only facility of its kind in the area and provides immeasurable and critical value to the community and to the lives of the wildlife cared for at our facility. Since most of the wild animals brought to our clinic suffer from injuries or problems caused by humans, we not only aim to help animals in need, but to educate the public on how they can reduce their impact on local wildlife.

OM Duties:

  • Work closely with the Medical Team regarding patient care, and assist with intakes and medical procedures as needed.
  • Train the Lead Animal Care Technician to make common rehabilitation decisions independently.
  • Work with the Lead Animal Care Technician to train new Animal Care Technicians.
  • Lead the Animal Care Technicians daily.
  • Create the Animal Care Technician weekly shift schedules including PTO requests.
  • Ensure patients’ paperwork is accurate and complete.
  • Keep animal care protocols accurate and up-to-date.
  • Works closely with the Outreach and Volunteer Manager regarding volunteer concerns and needs.
  • Oversee the biomedical waste program.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings
  • Cover responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Manager in her/his absence
  • Order supplies such as soil, pea gravel, and yard waste removal
  • Work with Lead Animal Care Technician to complete annual reviews for direct reports
  • Provide input regarding other staff reviews
  • Keep the Amazon, Chewy, and Walmart wish lists current
  • Assist with donor management as needed
  • Do morning rounds in all areas

Requirements:

  • Rabies pre-exposure vaccines required after hire
  • Paid wildlife rehabilitation experience required (1+ years preferred)
  • Experience working for a non-profit organization is a plus
  • Experience using WRMD is a plus
  • Leadership training is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $700.00 - $750.00 per week
