Position Title: Invasive Weed Management Individual Placement – 480 Hour
Position Summary:
East Zone Range is recruiting one 480-hour (12 weeks) Individual placements beginning mid-May or early June through August 2026. This person would be helping with invasive weed control and potentially range management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This person would be helping with our invasive weed control and potentially range management.
Specific activities include:
- Spray and treat noxious and invasive weeds and record all data associated with treatments using tablets. Monitor results and look for biocontrol opportunities. (85%)
- Help with permit administration (5%)
- Monitor domestic and big horn sheep separation. (10%)
Required Qualifications:
- Ages 18-30 (up to 35 for veterans)
- U.S. Citizen or lawful, permanent resident
- Must pass a background/driver check
- Idaho State professional applicators licenses – work time to study, and complete after hiring
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications:
- Plant Identification Skills
- Government Driver's License for trucks 10,000 – 26,000lbs, can get after hired
- Personal transportation
Duty Location:
Duties are performed within New Meadows and McCall Ranger Districts in Payette National Forest.
Terms of Employment:
One individual placement will complete a term of service (length dependent on commitment of hours), starting May/June through August 2026 for a total of 12 Weeks (480 hours). The individual placement will average 40 hours of labor per week, minus holidays. Individual placements are responsible for providing their own personal transportation and food. Housing may be provided.
Program Benefits:
Individual placements will earn $7,680 living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis throughout the 12 Weeks.
The living allowance are taxable.
