Job Type Unpaid
Salary $0 per hour
Experience 2 - 6 years

JOIN OUR TEAM: CARNIVORE CONSERVATION IN TANZANIA!

UNITED TANSANIA e.V. is a non-profit organization based in Berlin, Germany, dedicated to carnivore conservation, specifically the 2 hyena species (spotted & striped hyena). We operate a vital research camp in Endamaghan, Lake Eyasi, within the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area of Northern Tanzania. Our team, led by a veterinarian, includes skilled local experts like trackers and a camp manager.

OUR MISSION: PROMOTING HUMAN-CARNIVORE HARMONY

At UNITED TANSANIA, our work is twofold:

  • Mitigate HUMAN-CARNIVORE Conflict: We strive to minimize conflict by empowering local communities to peacefully coexist with carnivores.
  • HYENA POPULATION STUDY: We are actively conducting a comprehensive population study on both spotted and striped hyenas to understand their status, ecology, and needs at Lake Eyasi.

THE CHALLENGE & OUR APPROACH

Human-wildlife conflict is a major threat to biodiversity, exacerbated by expanding settlements, land-use changes, and competition for vital resources like food and water. These factors can block migratory routes and lead to livestock predation. To address this, we focus on community-based camera trapping as a key tool for data collection and local engagement.
