Field Project Manager - Full-Time Year-Round
Northern Ecological Services is a full-service ecological restoration and land management company based in Esko, MN.
Our work includes project design, consultation, installation and project maintenance for customers that are a mix of public agencies, private businesses and landowners. Projects range from residential landscapes to large civil landscape construction projects. Including stream, shoreline and wetland restoration.
Our field crew works in:
- Prairie restoration and pollinator habitat creation
- Wetland installation and management
- Seeding and erosion control
- Invasive species management
- Woodland restoration and reforestation
Job responsibilities include:
- Reading and implementing project specifications
- Communicating with supervisors on project progress
- Training and instructing crew members on tasks in the field
- Seeding and planting native species as well as turf grasses and other horticultural species
- Soil prep and seeding using a tractor with harrow, disc, tiller, broadcast spreader or drill seeder, cultipacker and other methods
- Native and invasive plant identification
- Herbicide application
- Installing erosion control materials such as hydroseeding/mulch, straw mulch, blanket, silt fence and bio-logs
- The use of hand tools and small power equipment including chainsaws, brush saws and augers
- Driving company vehicles, trailers, UTVs, tractors with PTO driven implements and other equipment as needed
Project managers must be able to attain industry licenses, paid for by the company, such as a DOT health card, MSHA certification, and a commercial pesticide applicator license. A CDL is preferred but not required. Attaining a CDL will be determined after hiring.
Work can involve heavy lifting and working on difficult terrain in and near water. Field work is weather dependent but be aware that we still work outdoors in adverse conditions. The ability to lead and work as a team is important.
This is a full-time, year-round position, starting in early spring 2026. Typical work hours during the peak of the season are 50-60 hours/week, Monday-Friday and vary based on the needs of the project and time of year. Overnight travel with paid accommodations and per diem is expected.
Starting salary is offered at $22-$24/hour depending on experience, paid bi-weekly. Benefits include paid time off, paid holidays, bonuses, a health care reimbursement plan and a 401k matching plan.
Experience in team management as well as landscaping, natural resources, or ecological restoration is preferred. Experience operating tractors and other equipment with a mechanical background is also preferred but not required.
