The Nez Perce Soil and Water Conservation District is hiring a range planning specialist based in Culdesac, Idaho . This temporary full-time position involves developing range plans for five livestock operations in Idaho and Washington. The role requires knowledge in plant taxonomy, range and soil science, and natural resource management, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience. A valid driver’s license is required.
The applicant must have the ability to operate 4 WD vehicles and UTVs. The ability to walk in uneven unstable terrain and pack up to 30 pounds is required. Applicants with GIS experience will be given a preference. GIS will be utilized to spatially display informatoin and develop grazing land priority areas. The successful candidate needs excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing as they will be working with livestock operators to collect informatoin and prepare written grazing plans in designated formats.
This position is temporary and ends December 31, 2025.
