Position Overview
The Director oversees all aspects of animal care and rehabilitation, from arrival to release. This includes the pre-release area, the scarlet macaw breeding and release project, and the future sanctuary. The Director ensures daily operations run smoothly and upholds the highest standards of animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff responsible for animal care and husbandry
  • Develop and implement feeding, enrichment, and enclosure design protocols
  • Oversee and collaborate with the Head Veterinarian on animal health and welfare protocols
  • Ensure compliance with rehabilitation goals and best practices
  • Coordinate weekly schedules and share management duties with the Assistant Director
  • Lead, train, and motivate staff and volunteers to maintain good conduct and high performance

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Animal husbandry expertise
  • Valid driver’s license
