Job Description
The James River Association is seeking statements of qualifications from an experienced consultant to assess and strengthen internal systems and processes that support a resilient, diversified funding model for riparian forest buffer restoration across the James River watershed.
About us
Founded in 1976, the James River Association is the oldest and largest river conservation group in Virginia and the only organization solely dedicated to protecting and enhancing the James River and its tributaries. We protect the James River and connect people with it through education, community conservation, watershed restoration, and river advocacy.
Scope of work includes
• Listen and inventory existing processes, tools, and documents
• Analyze challenges and share findings with JRA
• Develop or refine a practical funding tracking and budgeting approach using accessible technology
• Support implementation and iterative improvements
• Package guidance and learnings for broader use across partners
Timeline
Work is anticipated to begin Spring 2026 and conclude no later than December 31, 2027.
Key context
JRA and partners have secured significant funding since 2019 and are diversifying funding streams. As funding sources grow, tracking, reporting, and budgeting have become more complex. Current tools include Google Sheets, Excel, Paychex, and QuickBooks, and the goal is a comprehensive, flexible, sustainable approach.
