Tualatin Riverkeepers is searching for a River Rentals Manager. The position is part-time, non-exempt, 28-32 hours week, including most weekends and will manage our River Rentals program between May and September.

River Rentals includes canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals to the public at Cook Park (Tigard) and Rood  Bridge Park (Hillsboro), with occasional trips and special events on other parts of the river. 

Specific responsibilities include:   

  • Training, scheduling, and supervising the summer rental staff (typically 6-7 high school or college students), assisted by the River Experiences Program Manager and Executive Director.  
  • Trouble-shooting online rental reservations and waiver forms, sometimes at the last minute, with calm competence and patience.   
  • For site-based rentals at Cook Park, ensuring that all boats, gear, supplies, and materials are cleaned and organized at the beginning and end of the rental day.  
  • For trailer-based rentals (primarily Rood Park), ensuring that the trailer is safely and securely loaded with the necessary boats and gear before and after the rental day, and ensuring that the trailer is where it needs to be for the rentals.  
  • Meet partner and community groups at Cook Park to open the boats and equipment trailer, set up gear for staff and volunteers, and accompany the group as a safety boat. 

Qualifications include:   

  • Physical ability to lift and move boats, trailers, and other gear, with assistance from devices (carts and racks) and other personnel (summer staff under supervision).   
  • Access to reliable transportation and an unwavering commitment to punctuality and reliability.  
  • Calm, competent, cheerful, and problem-solving attitude towards customer service, including and especially in chaotic situations.   
  • Competence with technological online reservation systems (with training provided) and resourcefulness to obtain assistance necessary to quickly navigate IT challenges.   
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, learn from, coordinate, and collaborate with team members.
