Job Description
Full-Time Seasonal State Parks Resource Crew
There will be several positions available from December – May of each calendar year. Pay is $14.50/hr. Travel allowance is also available to crew members. Resource crew members will assist Northern and Southern Resource Managers with prescribed fire, fire line prep, exotic plant removal, and other habitat enhancement projects.
Training :
- S130/ 190 Basic Wildland Firefighter training
- S212 Chainsaw Training
- On the job training will include plant and animal identification (including exotics), herbicides and fire line preparation.
Requirements:
- A completed college degree is not required.
- Areas of study that would be most appropriate include Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Biology/Ecology, Plant Biology, or another related field. Previous experience in a related field is also desirable.
- Experience in GIS, QGIS and Small Engine Repair or mechanical/carpentry may also be valuable to this position.
- Applicants must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently and with other crew members.
- Applicants also must be able to pass a work capacity test (walking 2 miles in 30 minutes with 25 lbs., or 3 miles in 45 minutes with 45 lbs.)
