Seasonal Laborer (Natural Resources)

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhancing the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking Laborers to join its Natural Resources team.
The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:
- Conducts prairie and riparian habitat restoration within parks.
- Works in the HPARD greenhouse to propagate plants for habitat restoration.
- Participates in volunteer workdays, planting events and conservation service events.
- Performs trash cleanup of riparian areas.
- Conducts invasive species removal using mechanical and/or chemical methods.
- Performs technical data collection, research, analysis, evaluations, inspections, or surveys to determine the impact on natural resources.
- Participates in community outreach events to educate citizens about the value of native habitat.
- Participates in online and hands-on training provided by various organizations.
- Performs related work as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS There are routine exposures to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air condition. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
