Position Overview
Timberland Invasives Partnership (TIP) is seeking a Seasonal Invasive Species Technician for the 2026 field season (approximately May – October, dates flexible.) The position reports to the TIP Coordinator and is based in Keshena for work in Langlade, Menominee, Oconto, and Shawano Counties.
The position focuses on invasive plant management and may also include surveying and public education/outreach.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Identification of native and invasive plant species
- Survey and record invasive plant species locations using GPS equipment.
- Conduct manual and chemical control of invasive plants on public and private lands
- Operate, maintain, and transport herbicide equipment and materials.
- Communicate and coordinate activities with the TIP Coordinator.
- Assist with education and outreach events as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older, and able to pass a background check prior to employment
- Valid state driver’s license, reliable and insured personal vehicle, and good driving record
- Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Certification and license or ability to obtain prior to the start of field season
- Willingness to work in a variety of outdoor conditions
- Ability to safely carry a 3-gallon backpack sprayer for extended periods of time and lift 50 up to pounds
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to interact professionally with landowners and the public
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment safely and responsibly (i.e., chainsaws, brush cutters)
Desired Qualifications:
- Standard First Aid Certification (preferred, but not required)
- Familiarity with Wisconsin’s native and invasive plant species
- Background or coursework in natural resources, forestry, or a related field
- Experience with plant identification, GPS technology, and conservation outreach
