Key Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of project scopes
- Lead cross-functional teams, mitigate risks, and communicate project progress to senior management and ownership groups
- Direct all project activities and administrative processes to ensure successful project planning, execution, and closure; this includes day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintenance of construction documents, processing of paperwork including but not limited to review and approval of subcontractor/vendor invoices, submission of accurate and timely billings, and collection of payments
- Determine needed resources, such as manpower, materials, and equipment, from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- Assign and lead the day-to-day work of Assistant Project Managers and Foremen
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching for Assistant Project Managers and Foremen
- Utilize disciplined logic to solve complex problems in all phases of project planning and delivery; find the best right answer by recommending methods, materials and combinations
- Execute and enforce safety standards, processes, and procedures to ensure project sites are kept clean and orderly
- Enforce conformance to quality standards, processes and procedures; conduct quality control audits.
- Support the identification and pursuit of new business development opportunities
- Estimate and takeoff project scopes, cost and duration of project; analyze bids made by subcontractors; select and contract subcontractors and prepare bid proposals for submission to client
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions
- Initiate, review, and negotiate change orders
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses; direct or monitor compliance with building and safety codes, other regulations, and requirements set by project stakeholders.
- Represent and promote DJM Ecological Services, Inc. on the job site and within the community through involvement with industry and/or community associations
Working Conditions:
- The Senior Project Manager's work is primarily performed on project sites, in field offices at construction sites and outdoors in various weather conditions with exposure to health or safety hazards, including noise levels that may range from moderate to loud. Construction site conditions will change or vary.
- Moderate physical effort is required, including the handling of objects up to 50 pounds with regular standing, and walking on uneven surfaces.
- Position will require 50% travel. Depending on location of position, nationwide travel may be required.
- Environment will be demanding and fast paced; number of hours typically worked in a workweek may exceed 45 hours per week.
- Position requires frequent, high-level of autonomy as it relates to decision-making that impacts company results.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Construction Management, Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with project management in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Construction Management, Finance, Engineering, or Business
- Strong management background, including P&L responsibility at the project level
- Experience in proposal development in the federal marketplace
- Prior conceptual estimating and bidding experience is required
- Knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Ability to understand and solve complex challenges to present alternative solutions
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with computer applications including Procore, Microsoft Office suite, RMS, and ViewPoint
- Demonstrated experience implementing safety protocols
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship
