CLLC is a leader in the fast-growing global movement to reverse landscape fragmentation, restore nature’s resilience to climate change, and support community-led action.

Scope of Work:

Working closely with the CLLC science team, consultant will support a research project on managing landscapes for wildlife movement by managing and analyzing spatial data. This will include modifying land cover maps for back-casting and forecasting analyses, communicating with external project teams to develop future scenarios, and creating maps and other graphics to illustrate results.

Essential duties 

  • Use spatial datasets on locations of past management actions to create landscapes representing “pre-management” conditions at points during past 20 years
  • Working with Nature Conservancy of Canada teams to develop future management scenarios and create landscapes representing these future scenarios 
  • Communicate with Nature Conservancy of Canada staff regarding questions about management data and scenarios 
  • Generate maps and other graphics for inclusion in project reports and publications 

Required skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geography, ecology, or other natural science involving spatial data 
  • Experience performing spatial analyses in ArcGIS or other GIS software (e.g., QGIS, GrassGIS) 
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities effectively, and maintain accurate documentation and schedules
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with team members, demonstrating clear communication, adaptability, and a commitment to shared goals

Desired skills 

  • Knowledge of R software for data analysis 
  • Ability to learn new spatial analysis techniques
