Title: Stewards Individual Placements Communications Coordinator 
Starting Salary Range: The starting salary for this position will be in the $21.39-$22.04 per hour range, depending on experience, education, and skills relevant to the position.  Please note that the indicated starting salary range describes the range for an incumbent in this position.  Most new staff generally start at the beginning of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity. 

Location: Fully remote eligible within the contiguous United States only. 

Status:  Full-Time Non-/Exempt

Conservation Legacy is a nationwide non-profit.  The Corps programs within the organization engage participants in diverse conservation and community projects that serve public and private lands.   These projects provide opportunities for personal and professional development and strive toward a high priority of needs for public land managers and community partners. Program Summary: 
Stewards Individual Placements, East (STE), a program of Conservation Legacy, places individual placements across the nation in projects that build capacity, improve access to natural resources, develop and support innovative solutions, develop opportunities for service and economic development, and empower leaders.  The Stewards program is supported by two main National Service programs: AmeriCorps VISTA and AmeriCorps State and National. Stewards Members work with multiple partners to create highly impactful national service projects that fulfill our mission. 

Position Summary: 
With direction and input from the Communications Team and Executive Directors, the Communications Coordinator will design and implement outreach strategies for Stewards Individual Placements. The successful candidate will lead external communications, coordinate internal story collection, and work with organization-wide communications staff. The Communications Coordinator will oversee all social media channels, website updates, publish email newsletters, and support Program Coordinators with recruitment outreach. The Communications Coordinator will assist in fundraising campaigns as needed. With support from the Executive Directors, the Communications Coordinator will create and manage an alumni outreach process. The Communications Coordinator will review all inquiries and direct them to the appropriate Program Director. The Communications Coordinator will provide support during member trainings and cohort calls and have an opportunity to facilitate sessions around communications strategies and best practices. This position will also be expected to travel several times per year for member training, staff engagement, and site visits. 

Outcomes & Functions of Position:

Program Communications

  • Develop, with oversight from the Communications Director and Executive Directors, a communication calendar for ongoing engagement with members and project partners.
  • Improve information sharing among members and supervisors.
  • Build Stewards’ and Conservation Legacy’s brand recognition, in alignment with Conservation Legacy’s Strategic Plan
    Provide oversight to Stewards' internal and external communication to ensure they meet Conservation Legacy brand guidelines.
  • Work with program staff on external program communications and partner reporting, including, but not limited to, data collection and compiling end-of-the-year partner reports.
  • Coordinate and draft internal communications to ensure program staff needs and requests are implemented across all initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison to Central Communications staff responsible for marketing and communications across the organization to further engage a unified message for all Conservation Legacy and to represent the individual placement (interns) programming.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team in having shared goals and projects and communicate/combine outreach efforts for the organization.
  • Implement organization-wide communications efforts and provide updates to Stewards Leadership around goals and objectives for messaging, branding, and stories.
  • Monitor best practices to update communication methods and tools to effectively reach members, stakeholders, and other audiences. 

Marketing and Outreach

  • Lead and expand program social media presence and engagement utilizing current and future platforms with support from Conservation Legacy’s Communications Team.
  • Build and implement a strategy for reaching new audiences through social media communication and other external communication.
  • Design flyers, graphics, and other marketing material.
  • Support recruitment efforts through developing materials and sharing opportunities.
  • Expand current communications materials to include all key programming and initiatives.
  • Implement uniform and standardized external communications materials across all Stewards programs. 

Data Management

  • Manage and update Stewards and program-specific websites.
  • Create, manage, and maintain program communications lists, including newsletter, recruitment contacts, and alumni.
  • Collect, compile, and catalog field-based media and content.
  • Monitor and utilize digital platform analytics to ensure best practices are in use.
  • Propose adjustments to communications efforts in response to analytical data.
  • Assist in the collection of information for reporting to partners and major funders; lead the design efforts for assigned reporting and delegate as needed to complete reporting. 

Alumni Outreach 

  • Explore alumni communication strategies for implementation with Stewards members.
  • Develop and implement survey data to be distributed to Alumni. Present results to the Stewards' leadership.
  • Working with the Development Team, organize the Giving Tuesday Alumni Outreach campaign and other organizational philanthropic endeavors.
  • Develop alumni meet-up events virtually or in-person near member placements and volunteer events.
  • Create and lead an alumni outreach plan for implementation within the Stewards Program. 

Organizational Advocacy

  • Successfully engages, leads and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve.  
  • Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals.
  • Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual.
  • Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing or communications for a specialized position or two years of experience in a position with marketing and communication as a primary focus.
  • Two or more years of communications experience across multiple mediums, including web content, social media, promotional materials, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and applications, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Asana, social media platforms, and web content management systems.
  • Basic knowledge of service corps-based or youth programming preferred.
  • Ability to distill large amounts of information into actionable and compelling narratives.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms.
  • At least one year of professional experience keeping others and oneself accountable to expectations in remote locations. 
    Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies.
  • Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.
  • Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment.
  • At least one year of professional experience completing work projects independently or with minimal supervision.
  • At least one year of experience managing data with integrity and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well with others and to seek assistance when needed to carry out assignments.
  • At least one year of professional social media experience (Facebook, Instagram, others).
  • Experience with graphic design software, or a working knowledge of design principles.
  • Demonstrated strong writing and editing skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies.
  • Must be able to pass the organization’s criminal history check requirements.
  • Ability to travel across the United States.
