We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Stewardship and Community Engagement Manager (SC) to lead our stewardship and volunteer activities for RVC's fee-owned preserves and conservation easements. The SC will engage with the community, oversee stewardship projects, and foster meaningful connections to encourage volunteer participation. This is a part-time, 20 hours per week position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in stewardship labor, which includes trail maintenance, invasive species removal, and habitat restoration projects.
- Perform annual monitoring and prepare Monitoring Reports for all fee and conservation easement properties.
- Prepare Baseline Documentation and Land Management Plans for new acquisitions and maintain/update existing plans.
- Lead the RVC's Stewardship Committee, planning and conducting quarterly meetings, and preparing reports for board meetings.
- Develop and maintain stewardship equipment and manage the annual stewardship budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Serve as the primary contact for stewardship contractors, conservation partners, and easement landowners.
- Organize and coordinate volunteer activities, including monthly Volunteer Saturdays and larger group projects.
- Grow the volunteer program by engaging with new and existing participants.
- Build and nurture relationships with community members to stimulate engagement and expand the volunteer base.
- Oversee RVC's deer-hunting program and manage the Adopt a Preserve Program.
- Lead community involvement in the pocket meadow project and coordinate stewardship-related administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with the Stewardship Committee on field issues and contribute to RVC's outreach efforts through stewardship activities.
- Prepare and present information on RVC's work as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience: Previous land stewardship and community engagement experience preferred; equivalent experience with land management or governmental entities is acceptable. Experience or education in environmental science, ecology, botany, or forest management will also be considered.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license and personal transportation capable of carrying stewardship equipment.
- Technology: The candidate must have a smartphone and be able to work remotely over high-speed internet. The candidate must also be competent in MS Word and Excel and willing to learn new technologies such as ArcGIS for mapping and GPS apps for fieldwork.

- Physical ability to hike several miles in rough terrain and work outdoors for extended periods; chainsaw experience is a plus.
