This pivotal role will focus on facilitating the implementation of strategic priorities to combat the illegal trade in North America’s native turtles, alongside supporting essential administrative efforts. The Strategic Coordinator will work remotely, coordinating with CCITT and ARC leadership to advance the mission of combating wildlife trafficking within the turtle trade. Join us in our mission to safeguard the future of North America’s native turtles by combating the illegal trade that threatens their survival.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build Capacity of Law Enforcement: Work closely with the Law Enforcement Working Group to enhance law enforcement's capability to combat the illegal trade in turtles through training and resource development.
  • Data Management: Collaborate with the Research and Data Working Group to gather, analyze, and manage critical data related to the illegal trade in turtles, filling gaps and facilitating partnerships to enhance data utility.
  • Demand Reduction: Manage initiatives aimed at reducing the demand for illegally traded turtles, working with the Human Dimensions Working Group and consultants to implement targeted strategies and interventions.
  • Sustained Funding: Collaborate with the Leadership Board to manage funding effectively, explore sustainable funding opportunities, and implement fundraising strategies to support CCITT’s work.
  • Administrative Support: Attend to administrative responsibilities and leadership of the CCITT, including managing partnerships, scheduling meetings, and ensuring effective communication and information sharing with stakeholders.

Expectations/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in wildlife conservation, project management, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, with a strong background in conservation or data analysis preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and make progress on strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating responsibility, problem-solving capabilities, and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, NGOs, and academia.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to conferences and workshops to network, gather, and share information with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to ARC’s mission and values, with a passion for wildlife conservation and the ability to contribute positively to our organizational culture and values.
