The Stream Restoration Crew is tasked with implementing stream and wetland restoration activities on Philmont Scout Ranch in Colfax County, NM. Work in 2023 will be focused on Bonito Creek, a wet-meadow, fen complex.
Stream Restoration Staff are members of a 5-7 person crew. Members will live in a cabin at the worksite during work time and have a 9 day on 5 off schedule. The crew is led by a Stream Restoration Crew Foreman who will lead field activities and a Stream Restoration Coordinator who will act as project manager. Crew will be tasked with implementing stream and wetland restoration activities such as constructing high tensile elk exclosure fencing, building stone and log erosion control structures, and building beaver dam analogs. Crew may also aid Coordinator in stream health monitoring activities and data collection. Crew will also help facilitate scout and other volunteer labor to aid in completion of project.
The ideal candidates will have experience with stream restoration activities or other related activities, including dry stone masonry, trail work, forestry work, etc.
