Heart of Oregon Corps is hiring for a qualified Summer Programs Manager with motivation, professionalism, talent, and passion for empowering and inspiring positive change in the lives of young people. We’re looking for someone who can coordinate two summer programs, maintain grant compliance, and promote the wellbeing and success of our youth participants. Primary duties include, coordinating program operations with key stakeholders, including the US Forest Service, supporting youth recruitment, hiring and orientations; recruiting, hiring and training Crew Leaders and Camp Counselors, and collecting, managing, and reporting program outcomes.

POSITION AND ORGANIZATION INFO:
This position is tasked with the coordination of both the Central Oregon Youth Conservation Corps (COYCC) and LEAD programs. COYCC is a collaborative effort between HOC and the US Forest Service, which engages youth, ages 16-18, in conservation projects on Forest Service land. Camp LEAD is a program that provides youth experiencing disabilities to learn about careers in conservation, complete conservation projects, and gain leadership skills, all within a camp environment. Go LEAD is a short continuation of Camp LEAD, which takes place during the winter. This allows previous camp participants to keep engaged in HOC programming, while also acting as a low-barrier opportunity for prospective camp participants to become familiar with HOC.
This position is primarily based out of our office in Bend, Oregon, with regular travel throughout the region for recruitment and program oversight purposes. Please note the organization is moving to its new Redmond Central Campus in June of 2026, with the Bend and Sisters locations closing at that time. The position works primarily in an office environment, but will also conduct regular outreach efforts and visits to partner agencies. Additionally, during the summer season, regular site visits, youth transportation, and even Crew Leader coverage are common needs. This position may also visit project sites in an effort to support youth development in the field. During Camp LEAD, the Manager may occasionally stay overnight in order to participate in evening activities. The position is supervised by the Program Director and is a part of a larger program team of 7 conservation staff. Heart of Oregon Corps is a large regional non-profit that operates 6 youth training programs.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of demonstrated experience working with transitional-aged youth, coordinating youth programs, and supervising and hiring seasonal staff. A Bachelor’s Degree (or directly related equivalent experience) is required. A combination of the following other qualifications is preferred, but not all required: general understanding of youth development practices, trauma informed care, grant writing and reporting, clerical and file management, career development and soft skills building, and natural resources/conservation corps familiarity. Additionally, it is preferred this position is held by someone with bilingual (Spanish) skills. A good sense of fun and humor is also welcomed and desired! A strong commitment to respecting the ideas and intelligence of young people and ability to relate to and support a multicultural group of people is critical. A successful candidate will have flexibility, adaptability, and problem solving skills to balance a multi-dimensional role in a rapidly changing environment.
Physical Requirements: light duty work in an office setting. Driving. Some walking on uneven surfaces, standing, stooping and occasionally carrying/lifting of items up to 50 pounds. Work in outdoor, all weather environments required occasionally.
Benefits:
Salary starting range is $60,395. Future wage adjustments and performance increases are considered annually at fiscal year start (October 1st).
This is a full-time, year-round, salaried staff position, with great benefits!
