Training and Engagement/Communications Specialist
The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to support our Training and Engagement Program and Communications. This position plays a vital role in connecting community leaders, professionals, and residents with the knowledge and tools they need to protect and sustain Apalachicola Bay and its connected ecosystems.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver Training & Workshops – Collaborate with the Training and Engagement Coordinator to design and deliver engaging workshops that promote stewardship and deepen understanding of our region’s natural resources.
- Facilitate Meetings – Organize and coordinate local and regional meetings, working with stakeholders to identify needs, provide training, and offer facilitation services.
- Support Outreach & Education – Create and deliver presentations, develop educational workshops, and produce high-quality educational materials.
- Manage logistics – Oversee scheduling, registration, and participant recruitment for workshops.
- Communications & Public Engagement –
- Collect and share stories that highlight the Reserve’s work.
- Maintain and update the website, produce quarterly newsletters, and create content that increases public awareness of the Reserve’s mission.
- Disseminate information through social media, media outreach, and other channels.
- Serve as liaison with the Florida Coastal Office Communications team, compiling weekly success reports, attending communications meetings, and submitting presentations for approval.
