We are searching for a motivated and reliable Visitor Services Coordinator for the Catskills Visitor Center in Mount Tremper, NY. The Visitor Services Coordinator will work with the CVC Director to ensure the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience.

If you consider yourself a "people person", love the outdoors, and have experience managing retail sales, you may be a great fit for this position.

This is a full-time position located at the CVC at 5096 State Rte. 28, Mount Tremper, NY. Limited remote work is possible during winter months. This position requires regular weekend and holiday work. This is primarily an indoors position but will require some outdoor work. 

Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the CVC Director, the Visitor Services Coordinator will:

Visitor Experience

  • Welcome and educate visitors about the CVC, the Catskill Park, the Catskill Forest Preserve, and Catskill communities as appropriate
  • Familiarize visitors with the CVC and the Catskill Center
  • Suggest Catskills-wide recreation destinations
  • Assist CVC Director in all aspects fo CVC day to day operations
  • Effectively collaborate with seasonal staff as a team to provide exceptional visitor service
  • Perform and document routine inspection, cleaning, & maintenance activities at the CVC
  • Manage brochure inventory and restocking
  • Record visitor numbers
  • Work closely with the CVC Director in the delivery of the Catskill Center's vision and wider strategic objectives for the CVC

Gift Shop Assistance & Rentals Management

  • Assist the CVC Director in daily operations of the CVC gift shop
  • Process in-store sales transactions & fulfill online orders
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure merchandise is stocked, displayed according to guidelines, and priced correctly
  • Ensure excellent customer service, including that ship environment is welcoming, clean, and organized for visitors
  • Follow financial, and cash handling procedures and controls at all times
  • Manage equipment and space rental agreements, coordinate scheduling, and ensure smooth facilitation of all space and equipment rental operations
  • Complete order tasks, as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in customer service or working with the public
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork
  • Advanced fluency in spoken & written English language
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail store and or online store experience
  • Proficiency in a foreign language a plus
  • Empathy and patience
  • Passion for the environment and or the Catskills
