1.   Position Objective

The primary objective of the volunteer position in the Habitat Program of the Macaw Recovery Network (MRN) is to assist in various maintenance tasks carried out in the Sarapiquí Rainforest Reserve. Additionally, the volunteer will contribute to the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems that are essential for the survival of the critically endangered Great Green Macaw (Ara ambiguus).

The volunteer at Macaw Recovery Network requires a deep interest in biodiversity conservation, teamwork skills, and willingness to participate in a variety of tasks as requested

2.     Requirements:

  • No prior experience
  • Must be of legal
  • Must have student or risk

3.  Activities:

Maintenance activities:

  • Assist in the maintenance and improvement of infrastructure, access points, or equipment in the Reserve.
  • Support in the maintenance of gardens and nurseries within the
  • Collaborate in maintaining trails within the
  • Support in control and protection activities within the Reserve

3.2.          Restoration and monitoring activities:

  • Collaborate in forest restoration processes, including area preparation, plant transfer, planting, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Control of exotic plant
  • Biodiversity monitoring
  • Monitor Great Green Macaws and improve nesting
  • Digitize monitoring data, inventories, or analysis of
  • Possible support in environmental education tasks, training, or visitor

5.     Schedule:

Eight (8) hours per day, 5 days per week, with Saturdays and Sundays off.

6.     Knowledge or Desired skills:

  • Previous knowledge in Biology, Tourism, Ecotourism, Natural Resource Management, Wildlife, Ecology, or Environmental Sciences.
  • Basic knowledge of Excel and
  • Driving license (car or motorcycle).

7.  Personal Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate
