This year-round position will assist the Wake Site Manager in the head (planning, administration, and logistics) and the heart (working with kids, mentoring staff, spreading joy) of our nature-based outdoor programs. The Wake County Camp Coordinator will be comfortable with organizational and managerial tasks such as program evaluation, onsite customer service, quality control, and program planning. This position will also be deeply involved in program delivery such as leading camp programs, providing staff development and feedback, and maintaining program supplies. Reporting to the Wake County Site Manager, the Camp Coordinator supports the operational success of all Schoolhouse camp programs in Wake County. This is a unique and wonderful combination of field work with children and administrative duties.

General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing exemplary adherence to Schoolhouse’s values, policies, and procedures. Help the Wake County Site Manager create, maintain, and uphold style and brand guidelines and integrity (internal and external)
- Assisting the Wake County Site Manager and other staff to ensure ongoing programmatic excellence and extraordinary customer service
- Safeguarding the physical, emotional, and intellectual safety of campers – model Schoolhouse values, engage all participants, deliver consistent and exceptional supervision of children, patiently process conflict and disagreements
- Establishing trusted lines of communication with participants, their families, and other Schoolhouse staff
- Partnering with Schoolhouse staff to maintain, upkeep, and order program supplies and materials
- Assisting Wake County Site Manager in advertising, interviewing, and hiring Wake staff
- Partnering with the Wake County Site Manager to support, train and mentor Wake camp staff
- Setting excellent example in methods, work ethic, and timely feedback
- Designing Schoolhouse camp schedules and themes as necessary
- Attending trainings and staff meetings as scheduled
- Participating in marketing/promotional strategies and Schoolhouse events as requested

Office Location, Hours, Travel
The Schoolhouse of Wonder office is currently located at 5101 North Roxboro Street, Durham, NC 27704.
Wake Track Out Camps (spring and fall) are currently located at Harris Lake County Park, 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill, NC 27562, and Umstead State Park, I-40 Reedy Creek Entrance, 1800 North Harrison Avenue, Cary, NC 27513. Wake Summer Camps are located at Umstead State Park.
The Wake County Camp Coordinator will typically work at Harris Lake County Park and Umstead State Park. Occasionally (usually in the winter season), work will take place at the Schoolhouse of Wonder office located in Durham. Travel to off-site locations is occasionally required.
Hours are dependent on organizational needs and vary by season.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position expected to work between 35-55 hours/week depending on the season and needs of the organization. Typical camp hours range from 7:30a – 6:00p Monday through Friday depending on the season. Typical non-program hours range between 8:00a and 5:00p. There may be occasional weekend and/or overnight requirements.
The Wake County Camp Coordinator will be paid an hourly rate of $12.50 – $14.50 per hour commensurate with experience.
