Job Description: The candidate’s primary job will be to support and assist landowners and managers of diked managed wetlands in Suisun Marsh, the largest brackish marsh on the Pacific coast of the United States. The work schedule is 40 hours per week. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed. The biologist will collaborate with state and federal agencies, universities, NGOs, and consulting firms operating within the marsh.

Additional Tasks may include measuring elevations with an RTK GPS survey unit, updating maps with ArcGIS Pro, managing the District’s website with WordPress, editing and writing the quarterly newsletter in Microsoft Publisher, conducting biological and hydrological surveys, operating a boom truck to maintain fish screens, assisting in controlled marsh burns, and supporting meetings and events.

The applicant should have a background in wetland ecology and waterfowl management, with experience working with wetland landowners, managers, and government agency staff.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in wildlife biology, ecology, or similar sciences; knowledge of wetlands and waterfowl preferred; proven ability to work well in small and diverse teams, experience working with diverse land managers and agencies; proven experience completing reports, and background conducting wetland or similar fieldwork.
