The Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council (WWBWC) is a local nonprofit organization based in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. We create a collaborative local environment where passionate individuals team up to achieve success. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Watershed Project Manager.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement watershed projects focusing on urban and agricultural water quality, riparian restoration, habitat assessments, fish passage improvement, and habitat restoration.
- Manage multiple projects, including creating work plans, timelines, and budgets and overseeing permitting and deliverables.
- Secure funding through grant writing and building strong relationships with funding partners.
- Coordinate with landowners, technical specialists, contractors, and agency partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Conduct fieldwork, including hydrological data collection, habitat monitoring, and ecological surveys.
- Represent WWBWC at meetings, public events, and in communications with partners and stakeholders.
- Monitor completed projects to ensure they meet ecological and restoration goals, collecting and analyzing data for accurate reporting.
What we're looking for:
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in natural sciences, environmental management, agricultural sciences, water quality, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, 2-3 years of relevant experience in natural resource management is highly desirable.
- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple long- and short-term projects, anticipate needs, and meet deadlines.
- Field Experience: Proven experience in collecting and managing field data, along with maintaining accurate field notes.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse groups of people.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic GIS skills are preferred.
- Knowledge Base: Familiarity with watershed processes, water quality issues, salmonid life history and habitat needs, and management of native and non-native vegetation.
- Personal Attributes: A dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented individual with a collaborative mindset.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.

- Competitive Salary: Starting at $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience, with the potential for a pay increase after a 90-day probationary period.

Work Environment:
This position is based at our office at 810 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater, OR. You'll have a mix of office work and fieldwork in locations within Umatilla and Walla Walla Counties. You'll need the ability to hike into project sites, work full days in the field, and, on rare occasions, camp overnight.
