Summary of Position: 

As the Wilderness Steward Program Organizer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the effective operation of ICL’s Wilderness Steward Program. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in volunteer communications, data management, backcountry trip planning, and collaboration with ICL’s external partners in this program; particularly the U.S. Forest Service and the National Park Service.

Contract Dates: June – August 2024. Start and end date can be flexible, but we are looking for a minimum of a 3-month contract during the summer months.

Terms

This is a three-month contract position, averaging 15 hours per week. ICL will pay the WSP Organizer a monthly stipend of $2000. The contractor will not be an employee of ICL, and is not benefit eligible. This is a part time contract located in Ketchum, Idaho.

Position Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage the Wilderness Steward Program email account, responding promptly to volunteer inquiries and providing updates as needed.
• Review and process Post-Trip Report Forms submitted by volunteers, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation. Generating reports for review by the USFS.
• Research and compile educational resources for Wilderness Stewards, including digital materials for ongoing training and development.
• Assist in media production for social media platforms, including compiling media content and capturing b-roll footage during stewardship activities.
• Collaborate with the U.S. Forest Service and/or the National Parks Service to organize targeted trips and hitches for interested Wilderness Stewards, ensuring alignment with conservation goals.
• Explore opportunities for collaboration with other regional organizations on conservation projects, such as trail work and noxious weed eradication.
• Identify recreational hotspots and research patrol recommendations to enhance stewardship efforts in these areas.

• Proficiency in data management and basic computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for conservation and outdoor stewardship.
