SUMMARY:

The TrueMentors Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the TrueMentors program in Newaygo and White Cloud Public Schools, Hesperia Community Schools, Parks in Focus, and the community-based one-to-one program. The TrueMentors Coordinator creates highly efficient programs, delivery systems, and quality program plans. The TrueMentors Coordinator maintains positive and productive relationships with the school Administrators, funders, and volunteers. Experience with curriculum/program development, recruiting, and budgeting is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Develop and implement annual program goals and objectives to correspond with requirements, current school environment, and measurable yearly outcome benchmarks.

● Build strong working relationships with mentors, school administration, school support personnel, faith-based and community-based organizations, TrueNorth leadership, and staff; attend TrueNorth staff, program, and board meetings as required.

● Serve as the point of contact for the partnership with the Udall Foundation, Parks in Focus Program.

● Plan and implement Parks in Focus (outdoor education) programming consisting of day outings, weekend campouts, and a week-long summer trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

● Create and oversee a mentor recruitment plan and perform recruitment presentations as necessary.

● Develop and conduct volunteer training.

● Facilitate match meetings between Mentor and Mentee.

● Follow proper enrollment processes for youth and volunteers through appropriate paperwork and procedures.

● Produce reporting regarding programming statistics.

● Assist with the implementation of program fundraisers.

● Develop and enter budgets, budget amendments, and other budget data and grant requests into the appropriate system as TrueNorth and program funders require.

● Manage program grants by TrueNorth’s Grant Management Policy and Procedures Manual.

● Ensure all spending aligns with the approved budget, is timely throughout the grant cycle, and complies with TrueNorth purchasing policies and procedure manuals.

● Maintain all TrueMentors property and equipment.

● Serve as a community liaison to develop connections with community members and organizations that may support the programs and assist in reaching program goals and objectives.

● Regular and consistent attendance.

● Travel to various sites and TrueNorth.

● Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

● BA or MA in a child-related field, i.e., Early Childhood, Elementary or Secondary Education, Physical Education and Recreation, Child/Youth Development, Child Guidance/Counseling, Child Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, or related Human Services degree

● Prior experience working with youth.

● Prior experience working with and managing volunteers

● Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications/Skills:

● Demonstrate passion for mentoring

● Proven ability to work with and train volunteers on a variety of complex

processes

● Lesson planning and program development skills

● Ability to provide support for a vision and direction

● Ability to develop and implement complicated budgets

● Absolute ability to work both independently and effectively within a team

● Ability to leverage community connections

● Considerable familiarity with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Google, general internet use and possess the capacity to master the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database and other external databases

● Ability to work with a variety of systems, agencies, vendors, data, and individuals while exhibiting excellent communication skills

● Possess and demonstrate the skill to effectively coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines

● Ability to maintain records and prepare verbal and written reports;

● Ability to explain program policies and procedures to participants, volunteers, and participant families

● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, employees, participants, volunteers, community partners, and families of participants

● Ability to maintain participant and agency confidentiality

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The primary office is TrueNorth Community Services, 6308 S. Warner Avenue, Fremont, MI 49412. This employee will be based at the primary location and working in an office with a moderate noise level for an office setting and participate/child/staff distractions. This position will be expected to travel independently to program sites.
