2026 Mollie Beattie Intern
Vermont Natural Resources Council
Montpelier, Vermont
| Job Type | Paid Internship |
| Salary | $18.50 per hour |
| Deadline | Jan 16, 2026 |
| Experience | 0 - 1 years |
There’s an exciting opportunity at Vermont Natural Resources Council (VNRC) this summer for a graduate-level student who intends to pursue a career in environmental science or natural resources policy or law: the 2026 Mollie Beattie Internship. The internship is named in honor of the late Mollie Beattie, a conservationist and Vermonter who served as the first female Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from 1993 to 1996. The Mollie Beattie Intern helps coordinate initiatives related to forest and wildlife conservation, land use planning, sustainable community development, water quality, and, if qualified, VNRC’s legal program. The scope of work will be matched with the intern’s experience and interests.
VNRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and strongly encourages applications from candidates whose identities have been historically underrepresented in the environmental movement, including people who identify as Black, Indigenous, Hispanic or Latino, Asian or Pacific Islander, or people of color; people from marginalized economic backgrounds; and people living with disabilities.
Compensation: The Mollie Beattie Intern will be paid up to $7,400 for approximately 8-10 weeks of work ($18.50 per hour / 40 hours per week). The typical working schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but may be adjusted to accommodate the availability of the chosen candidate. While we anticipate that the work of the Mollie Beattie Internship may be performed largely remotely, we believe the most rewarding internship experience includes in-person work alongside our program and policy staff as well as our partners and other stakeholders.
