Job Purpose: The Trinchera Ranch is looking for a hospitable and adventurous Activities Guide to lead our Ranch guests through various activities available on property.
Dates of Employment: April 2026 - October 2026
Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Guide guests on our wide variety of ranch activities including, and not limited to, hiking, mountain biking, e-biking, trap shooting, archery, fly fishing, wildlife and conservation tours, snowshoeing, yoga and Nordic skiing.
- Assist trail crew in trail maintenance and development, using hand tools and power tools.
- Able to share advanced knowledge of all ranch activities, history, climate, conservation work and operations.
- Use tools, materials, and other equipment properly and safely.
- Respond to and meet guests’ requests in a pleasant and timely manner.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed; able to assist during an emergency.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Use radio communication to maintain cross-property information sharing, especially while in remote areas.
- Perform any other Ranch duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, strong risk assessment capabilities.
Skill: Explain activities and guide inexperienced individuals through potentially dangerous situations.
Ability: Excellent communication skills, follows instructions.
Education: CPR Certification & Wilderness First Aid Certified or willingness to be certified, guiding certification preferred.
Experience: 12 months of guiding experience, or certification relevant to any of the following activities: hiking, biking, fishing, shooting sports, archery, tours, yoga.
Examples of relevant certifications include: CIG (Certified Interpretive Guide), AORE certifications, Leave No Trace Trainer/Master Educator, Professional Hiking Guide Certification, Backpacking Leadership Certification (NOLS/Outward Bound), AMGA certifications, PMBIA certifications, and PSIA certifications.
Working Conditions:
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or dry conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and extreme heat and cold. The position requires communication with Company employees, customers, and other individuals. Work hours will vary depending upon the needs of the Company’s customers at any given time and will involve working long or non-traditional hours to fulfill the Company and/or customer’s needs, projects, or special circumstances.
Physical Activities: Moderate and sometimes extreme physical activity is required. Must possess the ability to lift items forty (40) pounds and hike 5+ miles with a thirty (30) pound pack. This position requires standing, walking, stooping/bending, lifting, and repetitive motion and use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
