Amazon.ia Program Manager
Amazon.ia is an ambitious multi-partner initiative working to transform biodiversity monitoring across the Amazon by integrating AI, remote sensing, and field-based monitoring technologies to deliver actionable biodiversity intelligence for conservation. We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Program Manager to coordinate this international initiative and help guide its strategic growth.
The Program Manager will work closely with the Amazon.ia Steering Committee and a diverse network of partner organizations, including research institutions, NGOs, technology companies, and funders across the Amazon basin. This role involves coordinating multinational collaborations, facilitating working groups and meetings, tracking progress toward strategic goals, supporting fundraising and communications, and ensuring effective reporting and knowledge management.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in conservation science, ecology, biology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of program management experience, preferably coordinating complex, multinational conservation initiatives.
- Experience building partnerships across academia, NGOs, philanthropy, government, and the private sector.
- Strong knowledge of biodiversity monitoring technologies, such as passive acoustic monitoring, camera traps, eDNA, remote sensing, or related conservation technologies.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Fluency in English and Spanish or Portuguese (all three languages are highly desirable).
The successful candidate must be eligible to work and reside in Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, or Peru, and be willing to travel regularly throughout the Amazon region. The position is hosted by one of Amazon.ia’s partner institutions and begins as a four-year appointment, subject to annual review.
Please see the attached Terms of Reference for complete details on responsibilities, qualifications, and application instructions.
Please email your CV and a cover letter outlining how you meet the qualifications as described above to amazon.ia@andesamazonfund.org with the subject line "Amazon.ia Program Manager Application." Finalists will be selected by the Amazon.ia initiative steering committee. Deadline to apply: July 5, 2026.
When you apply, please indicate that you are responding to the posting on Conservation Job Board.
