Are you passionate about native species and eager to gain hands-on experience in the world of wildlife rehabilitation? The Carolina Wildlife Sanctuary is now accepting applications for our 2026 Internship Program!
We are looking for dedicated, hard-working individuals to join our team in Concord, NC, for an immersive experience that goes far beyond the classroom.
The Experience
As an intern, you won't just be observing—you’ll be an integral part of our daily operations. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive look at the care of native North Carolina wildlife.
- Husbandry & Care: Assist with the daily feeding, cleaning, and habitat maintenance for a variety of residents, including Eastern box turtles, crows, squirrels, and more.
- Medical Support: Observe and assist staff with intake exams, wound care, and medication administration.
- Public Education: Help lead outreach programs and interact with the community to spread awareness about local conservation.
- Project Management: Gain insight into how a non-profit sanctuary operates, from volunteer coordination to event planning.
2026 Session Dates
We offer two primary sessions to accommodate different schedules:
- Spring Session: March – May
- Summer Session: June – August
Who Should Apply?
This internship is ideal for college students or recent graduates pursuing careers in biology, veterinary medicine, environmental science, or captive wildlife care.
Requirements:
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- A commitment to the welfare of all animals and a professional demeanor with the public.
- Reliable transportation to our facility in Concord.
