INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WORKING WITH BIG CATS & EXOTICS

Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary is currently seeking qualified interns for Spring 2020 (mid-February to Mid-May, deadline December 31) as well as Summer 2020 interns.

Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(C)(3) animal sanctuary dedicated to providing proper care and a safe place for displaced or abused animals that need a forever home. We are home to over 100 animals, including numerous exotic cats such as lions, tigers, servals, pumas, and bobcats. As advocates for the American Mammoth Jack, a priority breed of donkey listed by the Livestock Conservancy, we provide homes to several species of agricultural animals. We also have several animal ambassadors such as lemurs, raccoons, a blue and gold Macaw and an sulcata tortoise just to name a few.

Our interns work directly with animals on a daily basis however, we are a NO CONTACT FACILITY and there will be no hands-on activities with the carnivores with NO EXCEPTIONS. Daily duties include but are not limited to preparing diets, feeding, cleaning, general health care and monitoring. Interns are also expected to give guided tours of the facility and provide information on the history of Tiger Creek’s animals, as well as facts about each species. Interns will engage in behavioral training one-on-one with an exotic feline, with the purpose of facilitating future veterinary care.

Interns should be in good health and able to work in outdoor conditions where there is possibility for extreme weather. Selected interns will be expected to take direction from animal keepers, take initiative and be hard working and dependable. They must be able to lift 60 pounds.

Tiger Creek Animal Sanctuary is a well-established sanctuary that has more than 20 years of experience working with exotic species. Interns will learn valuable knowledge that will help them in whichever field they choose: zoo keeping, animal care, veterinary medicine, wildlife management, conservation or anything applicable in the animal science field.

Interns will receive housing and a $50 weekly stipend. This is a 90-day internship.
