Overview:
RSCF is seeking an experienced, dedicated Animal Care Specialist to join our animal care team. This role provides direct daily care for a diverse collection of endangered species, including parrots, primates, and African hoofstock, contributing directly to the survival and propagation of species on the brink of extinction.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily husbandry, feeding, and enrichment for parrots, primates, and African hoofstock
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting concerns promptly to veterinary and supervisory staff
- Maintain clean, safe, and species-appropriate habitats
- Assist with breeding program protocols and record-keeping
- Perform facility maintenance related to animal enclosures and grounds
- Work safely and effectively as part of a small, dedicated care team
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a zoological, conservatory, or accredited wildlife facility required
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with parrots, primates, and African hoofstock required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Availability to work a 40-hour week, including weekends and holidays
- Strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a team-oriented mindset
- Florida resident preferred
