Position Summary:
CEMML is a research, education, and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University (CSU). CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense (DoD) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at CSU is seeking applicants to work with the National Park Service (NPS), Inventory and Monitoring Division, Rocky Mountain Network (ROMN) and Greater Yellowstone Network (GRYN) as an Admin Professional to assist with data management at the networks. The position will work a full time 40 hour/week schedule.
The job location will be at 1201 Oakridge Drive in Fort Collins, CO or 2627 University Way, Suite 2 in Bozeman, MT, with the potential for hybrid teleworking schedule from either location.
This position requires a federal background investigation and favorable adjudication prior to starting. Anticipated start date is November – January 2023. The duration of the position is expected to last a minimum of one year. Actual length of service will depend on specific technical needs of the office, funding, and applicant performance. Official administration of the position will be from CEMML, but the position will report to the NPS ROMN and/or GRYN Data Managers for direct oversight. Work may include travel to network parks in Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana.
The incumbent will assist with a range of data management tasks in support of long-term ecological inventory and monitoring efforts at the ROMN and GRYN. The position will perform assignments with guidance from program staff who are experienced data science professionals. The incumbent will also collaborate closely with ecologists and other network staff to execute the work.
Required Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree in computer science, information technology, geographic information systems, geography, environmental science, or related field.
- Experience using and managing relational databases (Access, SQL Server)
- Experience programming in Visual Basic, T-SQL, Python, and/or R.
- Experience utilizing geospatial data and GIS (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online)
- The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
