Assistant Land and Property Manager (part-time, seasonal)

Great Hollow Nature Preserve is seeking part-time assistance with the maintenance and management of its land and facilities in New Fairfield, CT this summer. The selected person will be asked to work two full (~ 8 hour) days per week, from around late May or early June through July. They will support and report directly to Great Hollow’s full-time land steward. Primary responsibilities will include trail maintenance; invasive plant removal; weeding and maintenance of pollinator, vegetable, and rain gardens; lawnmowing and weed-whacking; pressure washing buildings; landscaping equipment maintenance; exterior painting; making light repairs; and light cleaning of indoor facilities. Applicants must be physically fit, able to lift at least 50 pounds, able to work outdoors in the summer heat for extended periods, able to hike on uneven terrain, and able to safely operate power equipment such as lawnmowers, leaf-blowers, and weed-whackers.
Other requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a valid US driver's license
- Must speak fluent English and be able to effectively communicate with other staff verbally
- Must be a US citizen or have current authorization to legally work in the US.
- Must have proof of health insurance coverage (not included with position)
- Students working towards a college degree in natural resources management or a similar field are preferred.
