Position: FRS-PROF (ASSISTANT NATURALIST)
Salary: $23.549/hr.
Department: Parks and Recreation/Recreation Services
Location: Riverbend Park, 9060 Indian Town Rd, Jupiter FL 33478
Hours: 20 variable hours/week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Other: Ability to lift 50 pounds preferred. Valid Florida Driver’s License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

- Assist with developing, organizing, implementation, conducting, and evaluating environmental/historical/ cultural/educational/outdoor recreational programs and community events.
- Recruit, train and lead volunteers.
- Care for educational animals and maintain animal cages/tanks.
- Develop educational exhibits.
- Facilitates programs and services for participants ranging from preschool children to senior adults.
- Conduct guided walking/canoe/kayak tours and archery classes

YOUR ROLE AND IMPACT
- Assist the Naturalist and Park Coordinator in research and program design.
- Assist with customer service and promotion of facility programs/events.
- Assist with operation and maintenance of the facility, natural area and trails.
- Conduct natural resource inventory and monitoring.
- Provide for group use of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License. Graduation from high school or an equivalent certification, at least three (3) months experience planning and implementing outdoor recreational/nature related activities and programs.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must obtain First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training within six (6) months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience handling and caring for native and/or exotic wildlife.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Experience assisting with teaching science/environmental education programs
- Experience in creating social media and program marketing.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience participating in outdoor recreational programs and activities.
