Key Responsibilities:

Program Support and Logistics:

  • Assist Program Coordinators in program delivery including but not limited to:
    • Facilitating hiking, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, teambuilding, and cycling day programs.
    • Equipment preparation, loading, unloading, and set up.
    • Assist in managing and training volunteers on programs.
    • Coordinating program site and group logistics prior to each program. This can include everything from assisting with participant intake interviews, to scouting sites, to volunteer recruitment.
    • Create visual and physical instructional materials to accommodate all individuals with disabilities on programs.
    • Maintain and manage equipment infrastructure.
    • Executing our program close-out process at the end of each program.
    • Participate in biweekly program staff meetings, summer staff training week and other trainings as needed.
    • Coordinating, lesson planning, and leading teambuilding programs for school and transition aged students with disabilities.
    • Collecting, organizing, and inputting data to improve program outcomes.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity including but not limited to hiking, swimming, rock climbing, kayaking, and backpacking.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and lift and move a minimum of 30-40 pounds.
  • Willingness to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions. Outdoor physical requirements are consistent with outdoor adaptive recreation programming.

Location:

  • Work will be done out of the Waypoint Adventure office in Lexington, MA, and at Waypoint adventure sites throughout Greater Boston and New England.
  • Availability for some evening and weekend program support required.
  • Applicant must be able to commute to and from the office and program locations.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The compensation range is $16-$18/hour.
  • This is a part-time, non-exempt position with variable work hours, 26-40 hours/week.
  • Must be available to work June 1st through September 1st. Flexible start and end dates can be discussed.
  • Benefits include accrual of MA Sick Time.
