Your Position With TNC

The Associate Director, Network Architecture manages and analyzes all aspects of a large and complex enterprise network to optimize the organization’s efficiency.

Essential Functions

The Associate Director, Network Architecture is responsible for the implementation and overall management of the corporate data and disaster recovery center networks, and for AWS and Azure networks.

In addition, the Associate Director, Network Architecture is responsible for standards and support documentation for all company deployed routers, switches, firewalls and other critical communications devices. This position is responsible for providing ongoing analysis of the network state and will be responsible for sizing the network appropriately. The Associate Director, Network Architecture will assist the Director of Enterprise Networks with special projects requiring a high level of technical expertise. The Associate Director, Network Architecture may be required to write or review RFI’s and RFP’s as directed by senior management.

Responsibilities and Scope

  • Promote innovative technology as integral to TNC’s organizational effectiveness and value as a fundamental component of our organization’s culture.
  • Ensure that TNC’s policies and procedures and IT standards are met and managed for ethical compliance.
  • Research, design, analyze, develop and maintain current network and system architecture to meet future business objectives: Network modeling, Network Security, Network analysis, bandwidth optimization, routing and switching and disaster recovery planning/implementation.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects to further the mission of the Conservancy and to extend field-based network functionality/performance/reliability.
  • Craft, coordinate and execute strategic objectives, provide expert level troubleshooting, superior customer service and detailed communications to internal and external customers.
  • Create and maintain system schematics, topologic drawings and comprehensive system documentation.
  • Responsible for the design and deployment of Cisco and Meraki routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access devices.
  • Responsible for designing/implementing secure network connectivity between the corporate WAN and external cloud (AWS/Azure) environments
  • Manage and configure network monitoring platforms
  • Responsible for managing, maintaining the Palo Alto Firewall environment
  • Perform all the critical functions associated with managing and maintaining an enterprise level Network with multiple branch offices connecting to HQ
  • Responsible for training, instruction, setting the work pace and evaluating performance of staff with network and infrastructure support responsibilities.
  • Manages Network Architect and Engineering positions.
  • Willing to travel and work long hours and weekends.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent technical discipline
  • 8 years’ experience as a business professional in IT or related field.
  • Minimum Cisco CCNP Certification
  • 3 years’ experience managing Palo Alto firewalls.
  • 1 year experience managing a cloud network, preferably with AWS or Azure
  • Experience with IT systems methodologies.


  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
  • Excellent leadership skills; supervisory experience or managing a team of peer professionals.
  • Exceptional customer service skill.
  • Effective training skills.
  • Strong ability and desire to mentor and train others to excel.
  • Excellent knowledge of technology trends and procedures.
  • Strong ability to analyze and model business processes and recommend solutions.
